2 Osiyo! Hello!
Of all the words and phrases I have studied..this one I think has the most interesting definition
it is "ah ga-li-s-gun-ti-ti-ah"
or in the syllabary
a glszdda (keyboard: a glszdda )
it means (take a deep breath)
"Those who have suffered and have heard the empty echos
BUT have NOT listened to them"
wow.. I think that the empty echos refers to bad memories..
memories of the suffering of the past
and it refers to the power of the people, of the individual to move on..endure and indeed prosper INSPITE of bad memories,
memories that almost seem to want to destroy us.
pretty deep ..thoughts anyone?

Hard to say what the speaker really meant, as this statement is out of context. What it says to me is "Those who will not learn from their history are destined to repeat it."

we were talking about how cherokee is a "visual" language today.about how a word or sentence can be interpreted in different ways. the example in class was
Here Christa (one of the students) a-ha-ni christa
could be ..Here is something for you Christa
or Christa come here.. I have to admit I really love this language.
I am not a true speaker of course..but I am trying..

Its always been my yearning to speak the language of my Grandmother. i pick up words here and there but I had an experience recently that I found myself trying to create a sentence in Cherokee but instead ended up creating a profound thought. It was a real lesson to try to create a thought without the language Im used to. And ending up with a diamond instead.
