Osiyo Two Shadows, I can't finding our Cherokee's names in English and Fonts in this new forum, I found your "Our current roster" information Thread in your old VA forum. I copy and pasted here, to let us know. Here's your Thread: I noticed you have Cherokee name in English word on the bottom of your Thread that's good to let us know. I'm wondering what's the word for my name in English and Fonts? White Eagle...... _______________________ ? Let me know, wado.

Since I was bestowed with the name RAVEN (meaning wisdom) by a Lakotah adopted Grandfather, I am interested in finding what my name is, along with the correct pronunciation, in Tsa La Gi. Since it seems you speak Tsa La Gi, How does one go about learning when he is far removed from anyone who actually speaks it? Your help is appreciated my Brother. Raven is a beautiful name and a powerful one
Golana (kolana) is more like thunderbird Goga is crow but raven
is very close..my best would be go-la-nv qwm sounded like go-la-nun (nasalized) the english keyboard would be qwm
the other would be ka-lo-na K]n kaw-low-nah but that would be for a war chief/cheif war scout and for that the english keyboard would be K]n
all in all..I would recommend go-la-nv qwm
sorry it has taken me so long to get back online..I had to visit my mother who is not well. J2Shadows

I'm taking Cherokee language classes onling with the Cherokee Nation, at Tahlequah. The classes are free and very fun. You can find the site at Cherokee Nation.com, if you can't attend the live classes they have a archive that has the class so no one misses anything.

My mother named me 'horse' when I was little for running through the house. This is 'Soquili'. My full name is 'hears many horses.' I do not know how to write that correctly. The amount of information from my family is sparse, I think my sister and I are the only ones identifying ourselves as Indian. Anyone know how to write 'hears many horses' please let me know.

Correct me if I am in error but I believe 'hears many horses' is Anisoquili advgi ugodidi. Let me know if this is correct or if my sentence structure is incorrect.

hmmm... interesting question.
I might have said "soquili guodidi advgi" or "horse(s) many I hear"
anisoquili I think would be horse-clan or more directly clan of the horse.
I also have heard the word "Tsiquesti" used for "many" then it would be "Soquili advgi tsiquesti" or horse(s) I hear many
I am curious as to what Chief Lee thinks.
