Si-yo MountainBear...Its good to hear a word. I check everyday but no one has a message. I had great hopes when I first found this site. But I'll write anybody...about anything. I have a place up near Omaha, Texas not to far from Mount Pleasant. but now I'm out on the coast of Oregon. Don't have the heart to go back after my Mrs. passed away. Just been a tumble weed since 2003. I've got three grandchildren that are from the Mescalero Rez. in New Mexico. Hope to hear from you again.....

Yes, so glad to hear from you. I to was happy yo find this site and hope for meeting folks. I know Omaha, traveled that way long before the interstate was put in between Dallas and Texarkana. I still have family from south of Tyler over to Comanche and around Dallas. I think you will enjoy the coast, much to see and do. I got out to the west coast in the 60s while in the Navy, enjoyed it a lot. Are you in a RV ? My wife took ill and I retired to take care of her. With extra time and visiting folks, I came to realize that todays young people are not getting the same exposure to family my generation had. We are so spread out.
Thanks.....MB

Si-yo..No ! No R.V. I rent a small building for a store, in a small recreation community. I work seven days a week, 365 a year. Nothing better to do. I read books of historical events and try to reason this society. But 1+1 keeps coming up one, I can't seem to make a connection between what folks do and why they do it. The only kinfolk I ever hear from, lives down in Van Horn on the border. ( My Uncle) His son( my cousin) is Border Patrol stationed there. So that worked out for them. I sure do understand, taking care of the Mrs. I used to go to Houston every week(M.D. Anderson's Cancer Hospital) Until 2003 then never had the heart to go back, but stopped here just because everything come together at one time. I don't get rich but I don't go homeless either. Good to hear from you....The ol'Graybear...Jim

Graybear....nice to hear from you,\ 1+1 still 1....I know that. Why people do what they do? Who knows, hell I don't know why I do what I do, My great grandpa told me to work and worry about what I can change. Later I joined the service and was told to go after the low hanging fruit. Same same to me. Bless all on the border down there, they have a real job to do. Take care of yourself, its easy to overlook your own needs.
thanks...MB

Seems like only a few days ago ( 30yrs worth of days)I lived down on the San Pedro in S.E. Arizona. I lived on the old Kellar Ranch. Good Mrs Kellar come from Aqua Preita some 80 yrs before I got there. She used to talk ...about....Things and I used to think I was going to make some connections with common sense. Found a lot of truths...but that doesn't exactly connect the dots. In some cases, it makes the dots too far apart to connect. Truth being something that belongs to the story teller. One thing that seems to be revealing itself is greed and selfishness doesn't belong to one race of people anymore. Now wouldn't you know...the one thing the most folks don't care about the most...is the one thing revealing itself. Anywho, hope to hear from you again, if I can get one thing off my mind..I can start to think about something else. I got way too much time to think...too old to find a wife again :-)

Hello Graybear You are right on...I call them the I generation, I want, I need, I will, I will not......all about I, not us or we. That is what tv, movis and such has taught everyone. They should have been learing from parents, granparents and such. Like the old way. To old to look for a wife......how old are you? I am 66, it is my experience they will look for you. Mabe a lady friend is in order, it just as important to care for someone as it is someone to care for you. Just us 2 old bears here, where is everyone. I thought others might jump in, come on all jump in tell us about yourselves. Who are you, what do you care about, what concerns do you have, 2 old bears are looking.
nice day,,,,,MB

Si-yo Mountain Bear, there was a time Katey Lee would light-up the screen and even some times her Mr. I think sometimes she still reads the entries. Always during the summer I've been away and loose contact with people, but when I get back in October I would look for solid sounds, this time there was none and this summer I don't have to go away. Well summer is still a ways away, but I'm an optimist.

Mountain Bear I sometimes tell people I'm looking for an girl Elf. A girl under 5 ft. less then a hundred lbs. With short hair and her ears will stick out and she will have a big nose and sometimes she will wear glasses on the end of her nose. And always she will be up to mischief I too am 66. I guess all the elves moved away, or went into the movie business(?) Maybe at my age I shouldn't be so picky...what do you think ?

Hello Graybear Well I have gone and done just what I did not wanted to do. Why we do what we do. Today being Sun. frybread and honey-dipped fried chicken, yes, I consumed to much, just what I did not need. About the time I was helping myself to frybread I though of you. I do not know if you are anyway near Warm Springs Or or not but there is a place called Coyote Eatery that has frybread and such. If you ever get close look them up. They have a small purple building and good eats. Hay 5ft is ok, not sure bout the ears, but hay who knows. I think it is good to have anyone around to care and be cared for. Mischief helps to keep things on a roll. Pickey is ok, just have to be open and when you know, you know.
Got to go rest my frybread......MB

Si-yo Mountain Bear...Warm Springs is way over in central Oregon, north of Madras, Oregon. I'm way over on the coast about 20 miles North of Coos Bay and the Coquille Rez. They both have Casino's and only rub elbows with rich people. I'd have to go to Siletz for any sportin' blood, so I just stay in my shop 7 days a week. Going to be a girl that knows whats good for me one of these days, just come walking in and tell me whats what. Well I'm off to the trundle for another beauty rest. I had 2 corn dogs to sup with and some fruit cake. watch for ya on the morrow.

Si-yo this day and to the Mountain Bear...No I don't think I bit anyone but i do think that some-one came on that was heavy-one sided claiming to be a full blood. But the way I read history, the modern Cherokee Nation is built of the lesser bloods. My Grandmother was very outspoken on the subject, and said to never try to claim my Ndn rights to the nation, that they are planted to take away our customs and stories. so when the people with indian hearts started to gather, I really wanted to be a part of it, to create a new Nation, bigger, better and more powerful then the Washington Bureaucratic one. based on belief and willingness to work as a single unit towards one goal. Katie Lee is or was a Chief, I thought. sometimes she still puts in a word. But asking a question will not get you an answer. so until we can find a subject that others will react to we will just have to settle for old bones to chew on. I always have to remind myself that most books written about our history, was written by a white person, talking to one old person that heard a story when they were young. So just about everything we know is a maybe. but that shouldn't take away from creating anew and putting forth a brotherhood that can challenge even the loudest voice that preaches from a rotted pulpit

GB....Nice to hear from you. I hear what you say. Not chattering so much is just being Cherokee. Mostly just hearing, especially folks at are age. When I was growing up there was a lot of people with different degree of blood, never remember much talk one way or the other on the subject. There does not appeare to be much back and forth talk here, just me looking. I have a question, can someone be Cherokee and experience Cherokee ways and not have a big Cherokee family? When I was young we allways had much kin-folks around. At that time I just figgered that was normal of coarse I thought that singing Amazing Grace in Cherokee while cookjng supper was normal. My dad was Army Air Core then Army and we moved a lot, Much got left behind. Saw the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding (can someone be Greek without a big Greek family) and that made me think of it. Since I retired I have visited more and todays young people are not being expose to things like I thought. Just me rambling on.
Take care......MB

I never see family, never did. Got'E' mail from my little sister yesterday. Heard from older sisters husband yesterday. Needed money to have his car worked on. But they have a farm over at Christmas Valley, Oregon,so thats as much as I will hear this holiday season. I just open the store seven days a week and visit with happless souls looking for that one thing they couldn't find anywhere else. Actually I lived amongst Ndn folk all my life, menfolk always had opinion and women folk always talked to each other. But I see Obama making gestures toward the nations. So far its just words and after a few years in court we'll have to see if any thing comes of it, but talk show hosts are mighty offended by Obama's actions so I been likein' that. There saying that the present U.S. bureaucracy will support the U.N. decessions on equal rights. Ummmm sounds a little hollow and apperars to be a bit of a Buffalo Bill Wild West Show But I'm just going to watch for awhile. I need to run to the store today, get me a Turkey TV Dinner for Christmas evening and sometime today I'll make a mince meat pie with venison. Always sorry I have to eat that thing all by myself :-) But here's wishing you and your a happy gathering for the season and to all that read this the same. Keep your powder dry Jim, The Old Gray Bear
