Osiyo! I'm new here. I am a mixed-blood of Irish and Tsalagi decent, from both my mother's side and father's side of my family. I'm happy to have found this forum and the UCN (although I'm not a UCN member... yet... I can't find my birth certificate). I'm slowly trying to learn the Tsalagi language. I've read some other threads in the forum, and I see a few words here and there that I recognize. My grandmother tried to teach me her language when I was a little girl, but the only words that I can remember are: Tsalagi, osiyo, and wado Anyway, I'm glad to be here.

Si-yo JustGina, I have to tell you that Mountain Bear and I are glad to see your words, we have been holding down this forum awhile just hoping more folks would jump in and fill the pages. If we get enough words from enough thoughts we will find a forum for many voices. So you have no idea how good it is for us to find you here. Look forward to hearing many thoughts and questions. So-i E-ga JustGina..( another day, justgina) Graybear...

Thank you for the welcome, graybear! I did notice it's a slow forum, activity-wise with just a couple of people who post a lot, and many more who seem to be registered on the forum but don't post. There seems to be a blatant lack of *socially* active moderators, which could be part of it... Hopefully things will pick up in time.
Sorry for not posting for so long. I've been really busy the past month.

Si-Yo JustGina...around the 1st of each month I get tied down to business labors but try to keep Mountain Bear on with us. I had high hopes of being a part of a forum that would get bigger and more informed until as a unified group we would have some political clout. But every-one went underground. Previously I was only here in the winter and talked to Katey Lee. But I went back to the High Desert of Oregon and when I got back last October, no one was here anymore. There here but non-commitle. I was active in a lot of Ndn movements in the 1960's but I can't find any of the old blood....It seems that everyone is trying to keep a low profile but me. I haven't seen a better time to insert a plea with the UN or world courts for recognition or re-established political standings then at the moment. I'm thinking that a large percentage of person's depend on the welfare wagon and are not willing to take a chance on making it by raising a calf and growing a garden. But the doubt that lays heaviest in my heart is that suspession that its the very same bureaucracy that is taking the rights to own land from us today that will steal the welfare wagon in the near future ( around Christmas). Then there will be a system like the 1930's where families were torn apart and placed in different parts of the continent to let nature take its course. So Mountain Bear and myself keep posting ( we want all the help we can get) because we know folks are reading the posts and we hope that soon more people will join in and make suggestions on how we can gain number and voices and become a unified voice to have some political powers. So stay on top of our interruptions and yell at the top of your key board (electric voice) see if we can get more and more. Graybear
